Chandigarh 09^th June:-Akshay Kumar has won several accolades for his power-packed performances in the course of his illustrious career. Starting out as an action hero, the handsome superstar has proved his versatility by displaying his comical flair and even maturity in some of his deeper, dramatic roles. As the Khiladi completes 25 years in Bollywood this year, Mika Singh, Sajid Wajid and Pritam Chakravorty and the contestants of India's biggest singing reality show - Sa Re Ga Ma Pa presented him a special tribute on the sets of the show.

Embarrassed by the outpour of affection and the gift, Akshay Kumar thanked the mentors and contestants and said that it's been a very memorable journey for him and he thank all the technicians, co-actors, directors and producers who have worked with him and made him everything he is today. When the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contestants presented a medley of all his hit songs, it was like taking a trip down nostalgia lane. As far as films go, he will keep working till the time the audiences don't get bored of him.

Chandigarh 09^th June:-Soon after its launch in July 2014, Zee TV's popular primetime drama Jamai Raja took the nation by storm with its progressive depiction of an unique aspect of the saas-jamai relationship. Defying television stereotypes that makes it a woman's prerogative to keep families together, Sid Khurana (Ravi Dubey) took on the responsibility of mending a troubled relationship between his strong, fiercely independent mother-in-law Durga Devi aka DD (played by Achint Kaur) and wife Roshni (Nia Sharma). With an intriguing plot and well-defined characters played convincingly by talented actors, the show has been a consistent slot leader and recently completed a successful run of 500 episodes. This called for a big celebration on the sets where everyone from the cast and crew got together for a cake-cutting!

Jamai Raja has now successfully progressed to an even more interesting turn of events after a two year leap. With Roshni holding Sid responsible for her mother's death, the lovers are seen to have drifted apart. Viewers are up for yet another surprising twist with Roshni's engagement to colleague Neil (Played by Indraneil Sengupta). Sid makes every effort to let Roshni know that he still feels strongly for her and wants to win her trust back. Chandigarh 09^th June:-According to the World Health Organization, 80 million couples worldwide are infertile, with 15% of them residing in Punjab. Several lifestyle and clinical factors such as PCOS, endometrial TB, sexually transmitted infections, stress, obesity, alcohol consumption and tobacco use are contributing factors to the rise in infertility, both in males and females. An inability to conceive can lead to serious psychological, emotional and social distress for couples and their family, regardless of economic, educational or religious background, said  Dr. Tiki Osianlis, Managing Director, Principal Consultant and Founder, IVF Partners PTY/Ltd  from Australia while delivering lecture at CME here at Chandigarh. 

While expressing concern over the Patients' rights amongst IVF specialists of Tricity Dr Tiki said that Maintenance of quality, however, throughout the entire IVF process is key to its success. Quality here covers not just the medical aspects but also the management of intangibles such as building patient confidence managing patient expectations and safeguarding the rights of patients. Sadly, not enough attention however has been paid to standardization of all the steps involved in the IVF procedure and these can vary from clinic to clinic here in Chandigarh especially.

Chandigarh 09^th June:-ZEE TV's popular primetime drama Yeh Vaada Raha, explores a unique bond between two young souls, Kartik and Survi who have very little in common. But their lives have seen many interesting twists and turns ever since the show launched last year. The show is now set to take a 7 year leap on 6^th June and will introduce some new characters in the plot.

 Recently on the show, Kartik (played by Ankush Arora) and Survi (played by Sonal Vengurlekar) painstakingly managed to eliminate the evil Meher (played by Ankita Sharma) and Ranbir (played by Yash Tonk) from their lives once and for all. However, Taai (played by Rinku Karmarkar) gets their new-born daughter kidnapped and Survi blames Kartik for this major loss. A grief-stricken Survi leaves their home and decides to move to Nasik. But as fate would have it, she finds a child who has been left abandoned in a train.

Survi adopts the child and seven years later, she is seen living in Nasik with her daughter, Khushi. She works in a company  and becomes very good friends with the owner -Jatin Mehta. Jatin lives in Mumbai but visits Nasik often. He is really fond of Khushi but has no romantic inclination towards Survi and is completely unaware of her past. On the other hand, Kartik's entire life revolves around Hema's daughter Riya and Bindu's son Rohit. He still nurses the deep wound of not having a child of his own but doesn't leave any stone unturned in treating these kids like his own.  Taai continues to pretend having lost her memory and manages to stay in the good books of Kartik.

 The popular child actor Harbandana who has already won accolades for her performances on television shows will be seen playing the role of Survi's daughter Khushi. Tamanna Dipak, a finalist of ZEE TV's successful acting talent show India's Best Dramebaaz 2016, will play the role of Riya, Kartik's niece. Talented actor Prasad Barve will play the role of Jatin Mehta, Survi's boss and friend.

While several actors quit a show if they are called upon to play mom and dad following a leap, both Sonal Vengurlekar and Ankush Arora clearly have no qualms about playing parental figures. 

Ankush said that the show's plot demanded a 7 year leap and if the story is following its natural progression, He is only going to play along as an actor. He sees no harm in ageing along with the character. We've worked on lending Kartik a certain maturity and restraint as he is now 7 years older and a father figure to his niece and nephew.

Sonal added that she sees no reason to quit a show just because she is now seen as a mother figure. In the track, she will be seen living with an adopted daughter. This gives her an opportunity to present a different set of facets to her character. She is sure her equation with Khushi will tug at the heartstrings of the audience.

Presently, the courses in the trade of Cutting, Tailoring and Embroidery, Computer, Dress and Fashion Designing and Beauty Culture Course, is being conducted at Aasha Kiran Building, Sector 46 and Small Flats, Dhanas, Chandigarh.

One new course in convergence with Jan Shikshan Sansthan in the trade of Stenography (English) is likely to be started in the 2^nd week of June, 2016. The Corporation is conducting the survey to explore the possibility for starting the courses in the trade of Refrigeration and AC Technician, Electrical Trade, Food Production, Gardening and House Keeping.

The aim of the Corporation is to provide Self-Employment Oriented Training to the target groups FREE OF COST and even provides  stipend @ Rs. 1500/-per month (in Cash & Kind) along with trade certificate after successful completion of the course.

Promoting Self-Confidence:In order to promote self-confidence, the Corporation arranged competition amongst students getting training either in regular course or crash course so that they may themselves judge their skill. Powermen Union Chandigarh today held 17^th protest Dharna & demonstration before electricity office Sector 17, Chandigarh in series of regular protest. The Dharna was held in support of long pending genuine demands of Electricity Employees & also against the negative and adamant attitude of the authorities towards the genuine demands. The demands include restoration of already granted electricity concession to the employees which is being stopped unilaterally by S.E. Electricity. Filling up  the 700 vacant posts lying vacant in the department since long, removal of pay anomalies of the employees by stepping up the pay of seniors with their juniors, offer of appointment to the next kin of deceased employees by scrapping 5% ceiling. Providing fault locating van, boom ladders, cable joints, meters, fuse wire & other material in the store and provide T&P & Safety Devices to the workmen, drinking water facility and sitting arrangements in offices, complaint centers and Grid Sub Stations, stoppage of increasing accidents besides implementation of other demands.

The Dharna & demonstration was addressed by Gopal Datt Joshi, General Secretary Federation & Union, Satpal President, Vijay Singh Senior Vice President, Desh Raj Vice President, Amrik Singh, Pardeep Sharma Darshan Singh, Rajpal, Balbir Chand, Ranjit Singh, Surinder Goyal & Kashmir Singh, Narinder Kumar, Paramjit Singh, Pan Singh  & other leaders of the Union besides Raghbir Chand President Federation, Rajinder Katoch (Water Supply) & Harkesh Chand, Horticulture & Bish Ram (Roads)  besides other leaders or sister organizations. 

While addressing the dharna the speakers strongly criticized the authorities of the department for the negative and adamant attitude towards the long pending demands and blamed that due to negative attitude of the officers the position of the department become bad to worst. They said that the work load is increasing day by day but the manpower is reducing as compression to work load. But the officers instead of taking efforts to fill up the vacant posts, providing materials and safety devices to the workmen are wasting their time in controversies and further blamed that instead of implementing of the demands they are trying to already granted benefits of the employees such as withdrawal of electricity concession etc. and by doing so the officers are giving fuel to fire which is not acceptable. The leaders blamed the authorities of the department are fully responsible for increasing accidents in the department and said that the safety devices and tools are not being provided, boom ladders are not being given to the Complaint Centers and lower cadre workers are being got victim and demanded lodging criminal cases against the officers concerned who are compelling the employees to do the work which is not assigned to them more so the field staff is being compelled to work in offices and work load of these are also mount on field staff, resultantly, the accidents occurred.

The speakers while strongly condemned the attitude of the authority for their complete failure to fill up the posts and providing safety devices to the workmen announce work to rule with immediate effect and decided if the workers will be compelled to do the job other them their assigned duty. The union will lodged criminal cases against the officers concerned and further warned that if the electricity concession restore immediately and others demands of the employees will not be resolve immediately the call of work to rule will be continue and employees will observe complete strike on 16 June 2016. The authorities particularly the Chief Engineer & Superintending Engineer (Electy.) will fully responsible for any in convenience to the public due to strike as they are sitting tight over the genuine issues of the employees.

Chandigarh 10^th June:-This 13 year old is an ordinary child, but thinks extraordinarily. Tushaar Sarin has his eyes set on his goal to make it big in the field of science and technology with a clear vision and intention. Passionate about technology and its practical applications, Tushaar can spend hours pondering over complicated problems and devising solutions for the same. 

Trained by the Chandigarh based RoboChamps, this Class 8^th student of Vivek High School, Sector 38 here,Tushaar also demonstrated a Robot controlled via cell phone with the help of DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency) module. Mobile keypad is used as input control unit of the microcontroller. For controlling the robot, 2 mobile phones are used. One is connected with robot (it act as call receiver) and another is call sending like remote control.

Tushaar had started his journey with RoboChamps, about six months back and today he can compete with engineering students. RoboChamps is a sister concern of Robotics Education World being run by Akshay Ahuja and is engaged in providing Robotics and Technology based education to the young minds through schooling education in India. RoboChamps training over 20,000 children from across the country who will share the stage in India's first and largest ever robotics show which would be held next month in New Delhi.

From a very young age he showed remarkable understanding of computers and the intricacies of computer programming.  As a child he was very creative and would often surprise people by creating extraordinary things from broken toys, knick-knacks and ordinary objects. 

Tushaar informed that he is very passionate about technology and its applications. Initially he learnt the elements of robotics like resistors, capacitors, diodes, LEDs and transistors. Using these components, he learnt circuit designing on breadboard. He researched a number of basic circuits and started designing these on breadboards. These included flashing LEDs, Dancing LEDs, Water Level Indicator, Touch Switch and Automated Streetlights that activate them in the dark. He added that  he is now making a fire alarm, which he is planning to install in many places, a smoke sensor, which he want to install in public places and he generates beautiful music using transistors.

He has installed clap switch in his home through which he can operate his room lights using sound of clap. Some other things which Tushaar has made include water tank alarm, home security system, traffic lights model and screamer (LDR based device which works on light). Besides this manual robotics he is doing research on many other projects as well.

Akshay Ahuja, Director, Robotics Education World, while speaking to media persons informed that Tushaar has excelled in Automatic Robotics and has started working on ATMEGA 16 IC, which is micro controller (topic of 3rd year Engineering). He added Tushaar has researched on many IC's like motor driven IC, MAC 232 which is used for serial communication, LM 358 which act as comparator. Then he started research on IR sensors, and after some time he came up with IR sensors for his robot and Learnt Embedded C.

 He then worked on ATMEGA 8 on which he embedded many modules like LED's, IR sensors, Motor driven IC, Seven Segment module, Sound sensor, Smoke sensors, heat sensors etc.

Akshay Ahuja further said that on doing research he realized that the education system doesn't encourage students to explore how the theories are derived. As a test of his observation, he trained one student who got himself registered in India Book of Records for creating his own robot and now Tushaar will make it big.

Kimmy Dhanoa, Vice Principal, Vivek High School, Sector 38 said that Tushaar is an out of box thinker, voracious reader, creative and has a vast knowledge about computers.

Chandigarh 11^th June:-Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association (CSCA) got a new executive body with election of I.P. Puri as the new President. The new body took over at the Government Art Museum auditorium in Sector 10 here.

The team of office-bearers named above would comprise the Governing Body of the CSCA with four more ordinary members to be nominated later on D.S Grewal, the outgoing President will continue to be on the Governing Body with the designation of Immediate-Past-President.

I.P. Puri, while addressing the audience, thanked the members for electing a totally new team of the office-bearers of the CSCA and assured them that his team would work whole-heartedly for the betterment of Senior citizens of the tri-city as promised in his election manifesto. He further elaborated that the pending projects of the outgoing team would be pursued vigorously so far as they serve the interests of senior citizens.

He said special budgetary provisions would be made to ameliorate the plight of the senior citizens even though other expenses may have to be curtailed. He thanked the outgoing team of office-bearers and, in particular, he appreciated the contribution made by D.S Grewal whom he referred to as a visionary par excellence.

I.P. Puri requested the senior members of the organisation to continue guiding and supporting the new team as well for the greater success of the CSCA in time to come.

Chandigarh 11^th June:-Punjab's first sports entertainment reality show Box Cricket League Punjab aired its third match from the series. The clash was between Ambersariye Hawks and Jalandhariye Panthers. The match surely was an easy game for the pro players of Ambersariye Hawks.

The toss was won by Ambersariyas and they decided to bowl first. They finished their bowling and let the Jalandhiryes make a total score of 84 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. Suyash Rai from the Ambersariye team proved his worth for the team by bowling 2 maiden overs.  On the batting front fulfilling this target was a cakewalk for the Ambersariyas. Adesh Chaudhary from Ambersariye Hawks was the highest scorer of the match by managing a score of 42 runs. Ambersariye Hawks won the match by marking their victory score of 86 runs.

Box cricket League Punjab is known as punjabiyan da khappkhanna and the theme was well implemented by the sufi singer Master Saleem who all throughout entertained and cheered the team in his unique style with spontaneous boliyaan and dance moves. Each and every player enjoyed this entertaining session with cricket.

Chandigarh 11^th June:-ALLEN Career Institute, Chandigarh Center conducted a7 days HI- PACE workshop for students of class 9th & 10th aiming towards NTSE, IJSO & RMO at its Sector 34 A Campus from 6th June'16 to 12th June'16. The workshop was attended by more than 170 students all across from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana & Himachal.

Allen is a renowned name when it comes to prestigious exams like NTSE, JSO & RMO. Last year ALLEN produced 123 NTSE Scholars, while this year more than 235 students were selected for NTSE Stage 2 Exam which was held in May'16. Top positions from all across Tricity, Punjab & Haryana for NTSE Stage - 1 were captured by Allen Chandigarh Center. For a coveted exam like IJSO, 4 students out of Total 6 were selected from Allen for representing India at an international Level.

The Workshop was held in three parts, viz Class 9th students attended IJSO Classes, while Class 10th students were trained for NTSE, while 50 odd students, both from Class 9th & 10th were guided for RMO.

The Students were trained by Highly Qualified faculty members of ALLEN PNCF  ( Pre-Nurture & Career Foundation ) Division who gave them 30 Hours of Regular Classroom Teaching & a Comprehensive Study Material consisting of a question bank of more than 800 NTSE Stage -1 Level Questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Math, Mental Ability, Social Studies & English.

Pushkar Rai, Center head, Allen Career Institute, Chandigarh Center informed that students from all across tricity & three neighboring states were highly motivated and came to know a new dimension of competition. They were taught using Multimedia in classrooms and many students found it very helpful. He also, told that a Mock NTSE test was also conducted for these students and Test Discussion was also done and when the result for the same was declared it gave them a glimpse of a national level competition.

A second phase of this successful workshop will be conducted in October month of 2016 and it will take student's NTSE/JSO/RMO Practice to an altogether new level.

Chandigarh 11^th June:-A symposium on Total Intravenous Anaesthesia (TIVA) was organised by the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, PGI under the chairmanship of Prof GD Puri, Head, Department of Anaesthesia in the Lecture Theatre Complex, Nehru Block, PGI.  Prof S Palvannan , Visiting Professor to PGI from Brisbane, Australia,  Prof Promila Chari ex-head of Anaesthesia department at PGI,  Dr Jayshree Sood, Head of Anaesthesia at  Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, Prof YK Batra, Anaesthesia head at Max Hospital Mohali and Prof S Gombar, Head of anaesthesia department, GMCH 32 were among the renowned faculty members from India and abroad  who participated in the  one day symposium. The Symposium was attended by more than 100 postgraduate anaesthesia students.

Conventionally anaesthesia is provided using inhalational agents or gases in combination with other intravenous drugs for anaesthetising the patient. The use of nitrous oxide and other inhalational agents has been reported to cause green house effect and result in vitamin B12 deficiency in the patients being exposed to them. The current awareness about the environmental hazards and problems faced by the operation theatre personnel with these inhalational agents has shifted the trend towards total intravenous anaesthesia. Total intravenous anaesthesia involves the use of shorter acting intravenous anaesthetic agents like propofol in combination with the opioids.  This symposium was meant to update the participants about the recent developments in the field of total intravenous anaesthesia.

There were lectures on the benefits of TIVA for Operation theatre personnel and the future prospects of TIVA in anaesthesia. The second session had lectures on the use of TIVA in children, in weight reduction surgery for obese patients, open cardiac surgery and liver transplant surgery. Providing anaesthesia at higher altitudes is also a challenge for the anaesthetists and this was highlighted in the lecture on TIVA at higher altitudes. This was followed by an interesting debate on the use of TIVA in lung and thoracic surgery which involves ventilation of only one lung and nitrous free anaesthesia. The highlight of the Symposium was the introduction to the Closed Loop Anaesthesia Delivery System (CLADS) which involves automatic computer controlled intravenous anaesthetic drug delivery according to the requirement of the patient by monitoring the depth of anaesthesia.  The experience of this system in different set of anaesthesia was presented.

Chandigarh 11^th June:-SAB TV's popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has added another feather to its cap, by securing its place in the Limca book of World Records. The show has been titled as the 'Longest running comedy show' on television.  It is a very proud moment for the entire cast of the show to be recognized in the world and to complete a remarkable journey.  The show started in 2008, is still going strong and is one of the most watched and favorite shows among all age groups.  

Produced by Neela Tele Films and created by Asit Kumar Modi, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma is based on the column Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma written by journalist and columnist Taarak Mehta for a weekly Gujarati magazine Chitralekha. The show also recently completed 1900 episodes and the team wishes to achieve many such milestones.

Chandigarh 11^th June:-Vinod (Dhruv Singh) suffers from an electric shock while he is charging his phone in his cabin. He soon learns that due to the mishap he now has a super power where he can hear what others are thinking. Excited about this new discovery he confides in Mandodari (Resham Tipnis) who believes in him after she tests his claims on her own.

Vinod then decides to test his new found super power on Anisha (Mugdha Chapekar) to learn about what she feels about him. He lands up at Sunny (Vipul Roy) and Anisha's house and starts doing things that shock everyone. Finally Sunny identifies the problem and alerts all the family members. They all get worried and try their best to manipulate Vinod to conceal the truth about Anish and Sunny's marriage. However as luck would have it, Vinod gets to know the truth and Sunny gets into crisis management mode. He hatches a plan along with the family to make Vinod look stupid in front of Mandodari and succeeds. Sunny suggests that Vinod is mentally not stable and needs medical help. Finally Mandodari, Sunny and Anisha call for a psychiatrist who is actually Hari in disguise to cure Vinod. What follows is total chaos with the cops behind Vinod for registering a false report.

Dhruv Singh who plays Vinod said that Sunny is hell bent on proving that Vinod is not mentally stable. Vinod who meets a psychiatrist believes that there is a bomb planted at the airport and calls the police to investigate. The plan backfires and the police come to arrest him for sending them on a wild goose chase.

Couples across Punjab & Chandigarh gear up to put their best foot forward in the City Finale rounds. The Chandigarh City Finale round of 'Videocon Connect Super Jodi 4' was held at Beant Singh Memorial Auditorium, Chandigarh and witnessed as many as 80 couples compete on the city level for the glorious first 10 positions.

The list of special guests included Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Sohan Singh Thandal (Tourism & Cultural Affair Minister), S.
