Mohali 12^th August:-In its endeavour to develop multiple intellegence, St. Soldier, Mohali organized a Monsoon Masti week for the Pre-Primary Section of the school wherein the little ones were engaged in a number of activities related to their current theme 'Monsoon'.
The downpour of activities began with the 'Monsoon Feast'. The toddlers brought monsoon delicacies like pakoras, kheer, puras, gulgulas in their tiffins and came to school dressed in blue. On the second day, Nursery and K.G. students made paper boats for their 'Puddle Play'.

It was followed by Recitation Competition by Class I & II students on the theme 'Rain'. The week concluded with the 'Fancy Dress Competition'  in which the tiny tots catwalked, dressed up  as fruits, vegetables, animals , insects and clouds found in the rainy season. The highlight of the Competition was the child dressed as a 'Drop of Water'.

A sudden spell of rain took everyone by surprise. Teachers promptly arranged a rain dance and the enthusiastic children donned their monsoon paraphernalia like swimsuits and opened their umbrellas, wore their raincoats and danced to the tunes of popular rain songs.
Principal Ms. Vinender. Tiwana and Headmistress Ms. Amrit Kalsi appreciated the efforts of the teachers and parents for encouraging their children to participate in the 'Monsoon Masti'.

Chandigarh 12^th August:-As many as 104 people including doctors pledged to donate their organs by filling form 7 to NOTTO during an event to mark World Organ Donation Day at Ivy Hospital here today . Dr Avinash Srivastava, Director-Renal Transplant Surgery,  Dr Raka Kaushal, Director-Nephrology and Dr. Ajay Goel Sr. Consultant , Nephrology at Ivy were among those who pledged to donate their organs.

 Meanwhile during occasion, Balbir Sidhu the local sitting Congress MLA, Gurpreet Singh GP , Cong MLA from Bassi Pathana along with Gurtej Singh, Chairman of Ivy Group of Hospitals  honored around 20 organ donors from region.

Those felicitated during occasion include, Subhash (name changed) a 36- year old from Ludhiana. He was Ivy Hospital's first kidney transplant 7-year back. He is now leading an absolutely normal life and has had two kids after the transplant.

Similarly Kuldeep Singh (name changed) from Mohali didn't think for a minute while deciding to donate his kidney for his brother-in-law. For Rama Devi from Mohali it was nothing less than a divine happiness to donate her kidney to save her husband. The same was feeling for Baljeet Kaur (name changed) and Narinder Kaur (name changed ) both from Panchkula and Karamveer Kaur from Mansa while donating their kidneys to save precious lives of their respective husbands.

Veena (name changed)  from Mansa was very upset after her cousin developed kidney ailment. During treatment it was found that her cousin would need kidney transplant for survival. A pall of gloom was descended at the home as everybody was clueless about what would now happen next. It was Veena who stepped up and donated her kidney. Her cousin is fit now and leading normal life thanks to the timely kidney transplant.

For Kiran (name changed) who hails from Kaithal, it was virtual an end of her world after her beloved son was detected  with a kidney problem. All her dreams came crashing when she saw her young son battling for life. She was broken, shattered and traumatized . Even in such hopeless situation, she came as an only hope for his ailing son by donating her kidney to him. With this brave and selflessness gesture, she has not only saved her family but enabled her son to enjoy his normal life.

Chandigarh 14^th August:-To nab the miscreants & criminals in the city, a special night checking was carried out on the intervening night of 13/14.08.2017. Total 68 night domination Nakas were placed at various locations of the city from 10 PM to 2 AM on night intervening 13/14.08.2017 to avoid any untoward incidents and to maintain Law & Order in the city. Total 9754 vehicles were checked out of which 191 vehicles were issued challan and 28 vehicles were impounded. Total 560 police personnel including 6 GOs, 16 SHOs, 10 Inspectors, 12 PCR Vehicles, 10 Cheetah Motorcycles and 460 NGOs/Ors were deployed at these Nakas.

Beside this, a special search has also been carried out from time to time  at various places i.e. Vital Installation, ISBT, Sector-17 and 43, Railway Station, Airport, busy markets etc to avoid any untoward incident.Such types of exercise will be repeated in other parts of the City.

Chandigarh 14^th August:-The Auspicious festival of Janmashtami, which marked the celebration of birthday of Lord Krishna was celebrated by the tiny tots of Gian Jyoti Global School at its premises in phase-2, Mohali. Students from Pre-Nursery, Nursery, KG and class-1 were dressed up like Lord Krishna, Radha and Gopees and presented a beautiful scene in the campus.

The parents worked hard to dress their wards like little Krishna and Radha and looked adorable in their fancy dresses.  The entire school premise was transformed into a land of Lords and full of celebrations and happiness.

During the celebration students and teachers presented dance performances on Main Nhi Makhan Chor, kabhi raam banke, Shaam Ban Ke, Hare Krishna Hare Rama, Hathi Ghorha Palki etc.

Mrs. Ranjeet Bedi, Principal, Gian Jyoti Global School enjoyed the serenity along with the teachers. Mrs. Ranjeet Bedi thanked the teachers, children and parents who worked hard to make this show enjoyable and made this day memorable for one and all.

Chandigarh 14^th August:-Chandigarh Police achieved a major success under the supervision of  Ram Gopal, SDPO/Central with the arrest of one person namely Ajay Kumar @ Mody S/o Surinder Kumar R/o # 168, Village Dhanas, Chandigarh Age-32, working as driver.

While interacting with media during a press Conference at sector17 police station DSP, Central Ram Gopal said that after getting secret information regarding the above said accused a team laid by Inspector Shadi Lal, SHO/PS-Sarangpur, SI Rohitash, I/C PP-24 and police officials laid a trap on 13.08.2017 near Dhanas Bridge at 05:30 PM and apprehend accused person on identification of Complainant.

On questioning Ajay Kumar @ Mody admitted that on 31/7/17 and 06/08/17 alongwith his associates have robbed cash Rs. 4500/- and Rs. 7500/- near CAP complex, Dhanas respectively and on 05/01/17 one mobile Phone with purse was snatched from one lady in Sector 15, Chandigarh. He also admitted that they also snatched mobile phones from different persons at different places. The accused has been arrested in FIR no. 116 dt. 16/08/2017 U/s 392, 34 IPC, PS-Sarangpur. Ram Gopal said that police has recovered one toy pistol,  12 Mobile Phones , Cash of Rs.500/- and Voter Card till now from accused. He said that with the arrest of the accused following cases have been worked out:-

1.      FIR no 112, dt 31.07.17, U/S 356,379,411 IPC, PS- Sarangpur

2.      FIR No 116, dt 06.08.17, U/S 392,34 IPC, PS- Sarangpur,

3.      Fir no 08, dt 05.01.17, U/S 356,379,411 IPC, PS- 11, Chandigarh.

4.      FIR No 128, dt 15.06.17, U/S 356,379,411 IPC, PS- 11, Chandigarh.

After the arrest of above said accused other theft cases are expected to be workout. Accused will be produced before the Ld. Court and Police remand will be obtained accordingly the case is on initial stage.

Chandigarh 14^th August:-100 children celebrate the 71st Independence Day at Elante Mall by promoting the message of equality in society. 50 underprivileged children arranged by NGO Ashman Foundation and 50 kids from Oakridge International School join hands to set up Indian Map at Elante on August 14.

The children will later present national flags to visitors at the mall. Elante will also take them to Fun City for an exciting treat of fun-filled games.

Chandigarh 14^th August:-Equifax India, registered as Equifax Credit Information Services Private Limited (ECIS), a global information solutions company, and International Financial Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, have signed a cooperation agreement to work together to deepen coverage of Self-Help Group (SHG) member data in credit bureaus and enable banks to use this data in credit appraisals.

The agreement will promote financial inclusion and access to funds for women from lower income groups, by facilitating integration of SHG borrower data with credit bureaus. This will enable borrowers to get broader access to credit as lenders leverage this data to assess them on a more data-driven approach. The SHG movement continues to be a powerful tool for financial inclusion, and this project aims to build and strengthen credit data collection and credit bureau usage of individual SHG borrowers through a consultative approach.

For more than seven years, micro credit data from microfinance institutions and banks, through Joint Liability Group (JLG) model of lending, has been submitted to Equifax and other credit bureaus to form a rich source of credit history for microfinance borrowers.

Sundar Arumugam, Head of Product Management, Equifax said that deepening the coverage of SHG data in the credit bureau is a key initiative for us, and we are pleased to partner with IFC on this journey. The initiative will increase the number of borrower profiles in the credit bureaus and thereby help them benefit while applying for new credit facilities. This is the second time we are partnering with WBG in the area of financial inclusion. Previously, WBG had engaged with Equifax to support the broadening of Credit Information Bureau (CIB) coverage among microfinance institutions. We intend to replicate our success of credit data coverage and usage in the MFI sector and in SHG lending as well through this joint initiative.

Niraj Verma, Manager – South Asia, Finance and Markets Global Practice, World Bank Group said that financial inclusion is a key enabler to reduce poverty and boost shared prosperity, our twin goals at the World Bank Group. This initiative with Equifax will help SHG members, mostly women, with good credit history to leverage that to access capital to grow their livelihoods.

Chandigarh 14^th August:-The Kindergarteners heralded the birth of Lord Krishna with great enthusiasm. Dressed as the legendary characters from Mahabharta, the little ones added to the festive air. Besides participating in the fancy dress competition, the students displayed their creativity by coloring sheets depicting Lord Krishna's childhood. The teachers of Class I showed power point presentations to the children which showed the 'Bal roop' of Lord Krishna.

Kataria further added that by using the facilities of the eLibrary the faculty and the students will have a globally comparable learning experience. The eLibrary would provide the necessary support to turn Aryans into a center of excellence in higher education in this region.

The platform offers single window access to premium academic content from over 500 reputed national and international academic publishers and more than 100,000 free eBooks and 10,000 open access eJournals for users.

Chandigarh 15^th August:-The New Public School celebrated 70^th Independence Day in the school with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. Students from classes IV to XII marched to the assembly ground to the beats of the drum. The programme commenced with NCC cadets, in all their finery, marching up to the stage with Commander Master Sumit of class XI.

The Principal, Mr. R.D. Singh, presided over the flag hoisting. Immediately after the Principal unfurled the flag, the National Anthem was sung. With Tricolor fluttering high, the bugle and drums matching the patriotic full throated singing of the National Anthem, the very air seemed to be filled with the sweet fragrance of independence.

The Principal R.D. Singh greeted and addressed students. The Vice Principal, Mrs. Sushma Jeryal too addressed students urging them to remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. It was followed by a speech by Master Ashwin of class X and a patriotic poem by Master Mukul. A melodious rendering of "VANDE MANTRAM" and a patriotic song by girls of class X and XI captivated as well as delighted one and all. Boys of class XI presented a patriotic song and a skit. The skit which highlighted the need of the hour i.e. the best of the youth joining armed forces drew a deafening applause.

The grand finale was a stupendous medley presented by students from classes VI to XI: beautiful patriotic songs and brilliant choreography mesmerized all. Thereafter sweets were distributed.

Chandigarh 16^th August:-State Bank of India celebrated 71^st Independence Day in the premises of SBI Chandigarh LHO campus with fervor and enthusiasm. Sanjeev Naryani, General Manager (NW-II), State Bank of India, Local Head Office Chandigarh hoisted the National Flag. Sanjeev Naryani paid rich tributes to the Freedom Fighters and  Armed Forces of our nation who are always alert and on the guard for preserving our Independence. Sanjeev Naryani and other GMs also released tricolor balloons as a gesture of Unity and Goodwill on the occasion.

The National Anthem and patriotic songs were played by school children. A large number of staff members and their families were present at the programme. An on the spot drawing competition for the children upto Class-V was also organized on the occasion.

The video focuses also on Nationalism & how there was a need to shun Chinese goods due to the fact that the People's Republic of China's Army - PLA, was trying to push into Indian territory by deceit. Sonu Sethi held a preview for media of the short video that has Sonu Sethi himself delivering the Piece to Cameras and which has been shot at Lal Quila & Rajghat in Delhi.

Sonu Sethi said that he wants to motivate talented Indian singers & lyricists to create songs that talk about these aspects so that Indians don't take Independence for granted & support our Armed forces whole heartedly. He wants the singer & writer to produce a song that makes Indians' sensitive in an emotive way, on China's double game. He said that while on one hand China was flooding Indian markets with its products on the other it was trying to illegally occupy Indian Territory. Lata Mangeshkar Ji's song 'Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon' had ignited Nationalistic feelings like never before when it came out. The need of the hour for artistes is to develop a song as timeless as Lata ji's song, to generate awareness & patriotism in people.

Sonu Sethi added that he announces a cash reward of Rs 1 Lakh each to the lyricist and singer who can do this in National interest. What we are seeing is poor quality lyrics that focus on subjects other than Nationalism these days. He wants writers & singers to make songs that ignite people into boycotting Chinese goods.

It is noteworthy that Sethi owns the famous Chain of Sethi Dhabas in tricity, & also runs an ambulance service for people in medical need & trauma, apart from being part of many other social initiatives. Sethi informed that the reward will be given to the deserving Lyricist & Singer on the Birthday of Punjabi Folk Icon Gurdas Maan's Birthday on January 4. The reward will be given in a mega musical programme which will see a performance by Maan himself at the Ram Lila Ground in Dera Bassi. Sethi himself is a big fan of Gurdas Maan.

Sonu Sethi's motivational video also talks about the strength of the Indian defence forces due to which there is no fear of Pakistan as well as China. It takes the viewer to the Sino Indian war in which China backstabbed India by attacking it despite the slogan of 'Hindi Chinese Bhai Bhai'.

Sonu Sethi also appealed to the Central & State governments to support financially, singers & lyricists who write & sing good quality patriotic songs.
