Chandigarh 22^nd August:-Hockey Chandigarh, is organizing Chandigarh Junior State Hockey Championship from today 22^nd August^, 2017 to 25^th August,2017 for both Boys & Girls at Sec-42, Hockey Stadium Chandigarh. Eight Teams each for Junior Boys & Girls are participating in this Championship.  

According to the Anil Vohra, Secretary General, Hockey Chandigarh that the daily four matches will be played. He said that two matches will be played in the morning 08.00 am to 10.00 am and two matches will be played in the evening 04.00 pm. To 06.00 pm. He further shared that final matches for both the girls and boys  will played on 25^th August.

Chandigarh 22^nd August:-Rajesh Kumar from Chandigarh, Mangat Chandel from Ludhiana and Satish Kumar from Delhi emerged as the top three winners of the Castrol Super Mechanic regional round held in Delhi, and have qualified for the all India finals to be held in Mumbai in September 2017.

Commenting on his win, Rajesh Kumar said that he is thrilled to share the Castrol Super Mechanic winners' platform with such experienced and senior mechanics. It was a great feeling to win this contest. This was also a useful session to enhance my knowledge and technical expertise.

Castrol, one of the leading lubricant brands in India, launched the innovative and exciting Castrol Super Mechanic contest to provides a public platform for independent two-wheeler mechanics to showcase their talent and skill. Thousands of two-wheeler mechanics from across the country signed up to participate in the unique contest that commenced across India in May 2017. Following the registration, contestants participated in an initial round to qualify for regional rounds which will run in eight cities.

Over 150 mechanics participated in the exciting competition held in Delhi. The competition included a quiz round and two practical rounds which included a diagnostic and an assembly round. The competition was fierce and the level of skill and knowledge on display was of a very high standard. Besides the competition, all participants went through a technical training on two-wheeler engine technology.

Participants from six countries will be competing at the Castrol Asia Pacific Mechanic contest.

Chandigarh 22^nd August:-First day of the 10^th I.J. Dewan Memorial Educational Workshop entitled " Organs Talk - Time to take Prevention" was conducted by the Department of Anatomy, PGIMER, Chandigarh today. It was attended by the students of Gian Jyoti School, Mohali, SD Vidya School, Ambala Cantt, Ashiana Children Home, Panchkula and Mukand Lal public school, Yamunanagar.  The workshop was inaugurated by the Maj Gen M.S. Kandal, Swami Nishtha Nand ji and Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh. It was followed by the cultural programme. The students were made aware about the serious consequences of antibiotic abuse, drinking alcohol, smoking, having transfats, excessive use of mobile phones and driving without helmet. After attending the demonstrations, many children pledged to quit junk food, misuse of mobile phones and antibiotics. Evening session was attended by the public.

Chandigarh 24^th August:-After remaining coma for 3-month followed by series of major surgeries, Ishivebeer Singh (25) returned to his normal life thanks to his never-give-up attitude and relentless efforts of Alchemist Hospital doctors after sustaining fatal head injuries in an accident four-year back.

Ishivebeer then 21 was brought to Alchemist in a very critical and hopeless condition after he met with an accident at around 1 am on the night of October 27, 2013.

His brain CT scan showed large collection of subdural hematoma for which he was immediately operated. He had a massive brain bulge and there was difficulty covering it by the scalp. The skull bone was removed to facilitate brain bulge to the outside. He remained unconscious in the ICU on ventilator for about three months.

With the great efforts put up by and the entire team, a patient with grievous head injury who remained in coma for three months and underwent series of surgeries has now returned to normal life after four years.

Dr. Gauri Joshi & Dr. Harsimrat Sodhi both Consultant Neurosurgeons who put up great efforts in bringing Ishivebeer back to normal life in 4-yr long treatment process said that due to the dynamic changes in the post traumatic period, he developed various complications like subdural collections on opposite side, hydrocephalus, and infections. Totally he was operated for about ten times during his initial stay in the hospital.

The reasons for such series of complications in Ishivebeer were several. After motor accident, there was extremely high intracranial pressure. The brain was severely injured. The brain bulge was very difficult to contain and needed flap surgeries to cover it.

Much to the relief of everyone, he gradually improved and was discharged after 4-month in the hospital. He then had to undergo series of rehabilitation methods at home. He had right sided weakness and could not speak. His whole body was shaking. He had to be fed with a tube. With great efforts from his parents and under supervision from diligent Alchemist team, he regained consciousness. He started eating and communicating with gestures. It took almost a year for all this. 

Dr. Gauri Joshi said that his ordeal was far from over. Due to the brain infections, he again had to undergo series of surgeries to remove it, followed by high doses of antibiotics. By this time, he had a severe depression at his operated site due to brain loss following infection.  

Dr. Harsimrat Sodhi said that bone needs to be replaced to protect the brain as well as for cosmetic reasons. But the original bone had become infected. The dilemma existed about non availability of such a large bone. He was finally operated in May 2017. Titanium mesh (Metal Plate) was put and a good coverage was given. He underwent the procedure well.

Presently, Ishivebeer is doing wlel while trying to get into a normal routine. He is being ably supported by his parents and sister.

The launch of this herbal topical spray marks IIL's entry into the Rs 480 crores valued domestic animal health herbal market. Chandigarh 24^th August:-Encouraged by the success of community connect programme, 'Be The Change, Be An Organ Donor', Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (ROTTO) PGIMER continued its organ donation awareness drive and organized two orientation cum counseling sessions one each at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26 and Shivalik Enclave Market, NAC Manimajra, concluding with 55 people volunteering to register as organ donors.  

The student engagement session organized in collaboration with an NGO Nav Yuvak Umang Foundation at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26 witnessed a positive response with over 100 NSS students participating and 22 pledging for organ donation thereby, showcasing their voluntary spirit. Expressing his happiness at the positive turnout at the session,  Dharamvir Rana, President, Nav Yuvak Foundation, said that there could not have been a better way to teach the spirit of selfless service amongst the students. Mrs Jyoti Lamba, Principal, SGGS College, reiterated the sentiment and said, "Organ Donation is truly in sync with NSS motto, "Not Me, But You,"

The community connect camp held in association with Shivalik Enclave Market Association at NAC market premises alongside the blood donation camp was also successful in motivating 33 volunteers to register as organ donors. Detailing about the intent behind organizing the camp, Ashish Duggal, General Secretary, Shivalik Enclave Market Association, shared that the aim was to promote a humanitarian spirit and being instrumental in saving someone's life, through this camp.

The team comprising Nilakshi, Simmi Sumbria and Sanobar from ROTTO PGIMER counseled people about the noble cause of organ donation and responded to the queries posed by the participants pertaining to prevalent myths and misconceptions. Dr. Suchet Sachdeva, Asstt. Professor, Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER emphasized on the importance of safe blood during his deliberation on voluntary blood donation and motivated participants to save precious lives by donating blood regularly.    

Endorsing on the need of public education and awareness about the cause of Organ Donation, Dr. Vipin Koushal, Nodal Officer, ROTTO PGIMER asserted that any community connect opportunity provides a good platform to reach out and make people sensitize about the cause. "It is optimistic to see NGOs, institutions and enterprises coming forward and evincing a keen interest to collaborate with ROTTO to promote the cause. Dr. Vipin Koushal added that the cause is definitely gaining traction. Community slowly, gradually showcasing engagement for the cause is a good beginning; however, there is a long way to go.

Chandigarh 24^th August:-This summer , an annual exhibition created and produced by students from the Textile Design Department. The survey enabled the students to interact with the craftsmen in their habitat and get firsthand knowledge of various arts and crafts.

This year the state under study was- Rajasthan. The crafts covered by students were full of beautiful inspirations and ideas. Every group was distinctive in its own way. Each group has canvassed various crafts such as prints, inlay work, blue pottery, lac jewellery, puppet craft and many more. The groups were-

The various crafts covered by the groups were Lac Jewellery, Rugs, Leheriya, Bandhini, Blue Pottery etc.

Speaking on the occasion, D.P Kharbanda, Director General, NIIFT said that NIIFT has lot of potential for meeting the demands of the industry as it has a strong faculty support and the institute will provide all the help to students for opening their own ventures in future.

The craft documentation ended with the vote of thanks to the Director General for encouraging the students in all aspects.

This movie is picturized to depict an era when there was a dearth of electricity in most villages and how thing like electricity (which is very common now a days) was a pre-requisite for anything or was like the status symbol of person in society back then. This movie is a story of a boy who wants to get his home electrified to increase his status symbol and fulfil the pre-requisite of Matrimonial alliance but how things turned but even after obstacles and overturning scenarios he gets his home electrified through legal means. This movie will be produced by Sumeet Singh, CEO of Saga Music in collaboration with Seven Colors Entertainment and Jagmeet Grewal, CEO of Farid Entertainment.

When asked about the movie, Sumeet Singh said that this will be a debut film for the Director and the Lead Actor which will be a chance for both to prove their mettle, add edge to the movie and do justice with the script on silver screen. 

To which, Jagmeet Grewal added that he is elated to work with such an experienced Producer and talented Crew.

As stated above, this movie will be a Directorial debut of Manav Shah who earlier completed various projects such as Dharti, Taur Mitraan Di, Tu mera 22 Me tera 22, Singh vs Kaur and much more as an assistant and associate director. Manav Shah, himself said that this film is a challenging opportunity provided to him by Saga Music and Seven Colors Entertainment to use all knowledge efficiently as he gained while assisting erstwhile Directors.

Renowned Punjabi Singer Gagan Kokri who earlier featured in various songs such as Dileriaan, Berukhiyaan, Silent Tears, Malaiyaan and soon will mark his debut as a protagonist in the movie.  His acting skills depicted in short music videos will now be tested in a time bound audio visual narrative at silver screen. His acting and singing skills have been endorsed by the no. of views fetched on YouTube against his music videos.

On being casted in the film, Gagan Kokri said that he is elated to debut as a protagonist as well as to work with Saga Music and Seven Colors Entertainment who released his first few songs and have shear acumen of professionalism.

Music Director of the film will be Jatinder Shah, who had earlier provided remarkable music composition to Punjab films, Screenplay and Creative Producer will be Dheeraj Rattan who is renowned for his contribution in movies like Jatt & Juliet, Singh vs Kaur, Tu mera 22 me tera 22 among other blockbusters in Punjabi Cinema, along with above two ace professionals the Dialogue writer will be Surmeet Maavi who wrote exceptional films like Saadey CM Saab and Punjab 1984 describing the versatility of his thoughts.

Film shoot is about to commence and release will be done next year, post that we will be able to know that what in actual Manav try to do under his first Direction. This is expected to be a comic representation of a grave situation of electrification persisting in our society, though our government took it pro-actively on mission mode and committed to provide electrification to each house by 2018.

Chandigarh 26^th August:-The widespread violence erupted soon after the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted by the CBI court in Panchkula on 25^th August, 2017. To cope up with the emergency situation, adequate anticipatory arrangements were made by the PGI, Chandigarh, under the guidance of Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, Amitabh Avasthi, IAS, Deputy Director and Prof. Anil K Gupta, Medical Superintendent. Prof. Sameer Aggarwal from the Orthopedics Department was Chief Nodal Officer, organizing and coordinating with other specialist and super-specialist doctors.

On 25^th August, 2017, 70 patients were brought to the Advanced Trauma Centre of the PGI, Chandigarh, after 3.30 P.M.seven among them were declared brought dead and one patient brought to the hospital in critical condition died during hospitalization. Sixty two patients are under the treatment of team of orthopedicians, General Surgeons and Plastic Surgeons. Out of these, 32 patients were having orthopedic injuries, 7 were of plastic surgery, 14 patients had injury related to General Surgery, four were of Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery and two were having neurosurgical injuries.  Majority of the patients were having multiple pellet injuries, Chest, Abdomen, Legs, joints, fractures or soft tissue injuries. After the treatment condition of most of the patients is satisfactory except for one patient who is admitted in the Intensive Care Unit and two patients having spine injury with paraplegia.  Half of the patients will be discharged today. All the patients have been managed by the medical and surgical treatment and were provided free medical/surgical treatment.

Chandigarh 26^th August:-SPEAK India (Society for Promotion of Ethical & Affordable health Care)  has planned to present 'Junk Food' a  play to  fulfill its twin objectives of promoting healthy lifestyle and to curb unethical practices in healthcare, in collaboration with ICCR and Punjab Arts Council. According to Dr. R. Kumar President of the society, the play is scheduled for Tuesday 29^thAugust at Randhawa Auditorium, Rose garden sector 16 at 6.30 PM. noted industrialist R.K.Garg will be the chief guest.

The play will in an interesting way make people aware of how a Diet consisting of junk foods like ice-creams, cakes, Burgers, noodles, coke, pasta, potato chips, and fried foods like Paranthas, Pakora's leads to obesity and exposes to serious ailments like diabetes, heart ailments, hypertension, stroke, anemia and unproductive life in the long run. Most of these ailments can be prevented by simple health tips, observed Dr. Kumar.

The play also hopes to emphasize on the role of fruits and vegetables in meals, regular exercises, intake of plenty of water, adequate sleep, while shunning Junk foods and excess of tea intake.

It is noteworthy that SPEAK had successfully organized a painting competition among school students of Tri-city early this month on the same topic. It intends to involve the youth in its campaign in a big way through art and culture activities, in the coming months.
