Chandigarh 16th August:- Commemorating the spirit of Independence Day, the NGO Shiv Kanvadh Maha Sangh Charitable Trust in collaboration with ROTTO PGI organized an Organ & Blood Donation Camp in the market place of Sector 20 Panchkula . The camp received an enthusiastic and patriotic response with 63 people donating blood and 26 pledging organ donation..
O P Sihag, Executive Officer, Municipal Corporation, Panchkula graced the camp as the chief guest. Others present on the occasion included Rakesh Sangar President, SSKM Charitable Trust and Ms Simmi B Sumbria, Transplant Coordinator, ROTTO PGI.
While inaugurating the camp, O P Sihag complimented SSKM Charitable Trust and ROTTO PGI for their commendable initiative on Blood & Organ Donation and said that organ & Blood Donation is an intention, a spirit of giving that is possible to actualize. There cannot be a better service to the nation than to save some one's life through blood or organ donation. It is the celebration of Independence Day in the true spirit.
Endorsing the need for public awareness, O P Sihag stated that what is really required is the engagement of one and all, the civil society, religious leaders and other stakeholders for creating mass awareness about the cause. We support this noble initiative and would urge one and all to join hands and be a donor.
Rakesh Sangar, President, Shri Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust shared about the Trust's 21 year long journey into community service and said that it is the public response and the community engagement in our initiatives that has enabled us to sustain through these years. Today again it was the same positive response with 63 donating blood and 26 pledging organ donations.
Simmi B Sumbria, Transplant Coordinator at ROTTO PGI, sharing the intent behind the camp, said that through these camps, we want to build awareness and a positive attitude towards this noble and healthy practice of blood and organ donation. An organ donation can literally mean a new lease of life for someone. We want to inspire more people to come forward, and register their wish.
